This is a hood for the FD3S RX-7 that pursues lightweight, high strength, aerodynamic performance, and design. The two large ducts lined up in the center were placed in consideration of the so-called “V mount” often seen on the FD3S RX-7, and the exhaust angle from the intercooler and radiator was considered. In addition, by extending the press line to the rear of the bonnet, we guide the exhausted air to the sides and prevent hot air from hitting the wings. The two ducts separated on the side can be expected to have the effect of discharging the air pockets that accumulate behind the retractable headlights, and also reducing the “bonnet lifting” during high-speed driving, which is important for achieving a lightweight finish. The test vehicle cleared the driving test even with 2-point bonnet pin fastening, but it puts a strain on the bonnet pin attachment part on the vehicle, so we recommend 4-point fastening if possible. The duct shape has been designed to provide maximum relief, but depending on the specifications of the vehicle, it may interfere with the intercooler piping, battery, tower bar, etc., so relief machining as shown in the photo is required.
